Skid Row Coffee Food Recovery

A program founded by Jessica Nizar of Skid Row Coffee and partnership with Imperfect Foods during the City of LA Covid-19 Shelter In Place Mandate in 2020. Our program is weekly and volunteer based, and redistributes food in Skid Row and greater Los Angeles mutual aid network, comprised of Home-y Made Meals, Skid Row Coffee, Skid Row People’s Market, LA Community Fridges, and Historic Filipinotown residents.

Our program rescues over 200 pounds of produce every month, food that would typically go to waste within the mainstream consumer and for-profit centered economies, that reproduces the vast health inequities and climate change. Our started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and still continues today.
