Farm Fresh LA Produce Bundles

Distributed: 20,000 lbs. of locally grown produce to CalFresh shoppers

Amount diverted into new local economy: $142,000

Since April 2021, we’ve provided an estimated total of 10,000 pounds of locally grown and organic produce to low-income Skid Row residents through Farm Fresh LA, a program of Healthy Neighborhood Network via Los Angeles Food Policy Council. This program supports the development of local food and economic networks of low-income immigrant communities of color.

“Aside from combatting food apartheid by providing CalFresh households access to fresh produce, all the while supporting the local economy … CalFresh strengthens the economy by supporting farmers, food retailers, food processors, and food distributors, as well as their employees. Every dollar received in CalFresh benefits is spent in the local economy, which is why this benefit also has a economic stimulus effect.”
