COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach and Shot Equity

In late 2020 and early 2021, the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines begin to be disbursed to front-line health care workers. Knowledgable of the history of medical apartheid and ongoing disenfranchisement of Skid Row, we worked with the County of Los Angeles through the year with cultural competence as front line response to connect Skid Row  with vaccines.

We leveraged the fact that we are on the ground and customer facing, serving hundreds of Skid Row residents and unhoused community members daily, we conducted outreach (and subsequently vaccine schedule follow ups) and registered nearly a hundred people, with the vast majority being senior residents with disabilities in the SRO Housing apartments.
